Everything we know so far about iRacing Season 4 of 2024

It's that time of the year when iRacing rolls out another seasonal update to cap off 12 weeks of racing. As usual, we would like iRacing to release many, many nice things but reality sets it and what we actually get may be a lot less new content and features than we dreamed about but we'll take what we can get.

This article lists what we already know will be released in a few weeks and a few things that are rumoured to be in the pipeline.

Cars

There are already some confirmed cars for the new update with a few more that may join at a later date:

  • BMW M4 GT3 Evo - Confirmed
  • McLaren 720S GT3 - Confirmed
  • Mini Stock - Confirmed

Several cars will be receiving rain tyres including both GT3 cars listed above and the entire Touring Car lineup. The 2003 NASCAR Cup Car, Gen 3 Australian Supercar and a few more GT3 cars will arrive at a later date. Some of these may pop up during the next season but most probably will only be seen next year.

Tracks

Cadwell Park, a popular track located in Lincolnshire, England has been confirmed for release in the Season 4 update but there are also recans/updates of Spa and Zolder that should make the the trip as well.

Cadwell Park

The list of tracks that are probably in development or are just plain rumoured is huge and includes Thruxton, Croft, Ricardo Tormo, Adelaide Street Circuit, Assen and many more. Needless to say, we will get more info closer to the time.

Features

Besides the usual tyre model, rain tyres, etc updates, there are a couple of new features that should make the new update very interesting. For example, iRacing will be testing a new method of splitting races during Week 13. They didn't go into much detail but we'll find out soon enough.

They also mentioned a new instant AI feature where you can launch an AI-based race of a current official series with everything preset to give you a testing experience that should closely match the official series.

Still in the pipeline but not confirmed for the new season is DirectX 12 support which should finally take advantage of more modern PC hardware. improved force feedback, a new in-game UI and several other features too numerous to mention.

Final thoughts

Season 4 of iRacing's 2024 update isn't huge by any means and we never expected it to be a massive one by any means. However, it still is a decent amount of features and content this late in the year and we are grateful for it.

Spa rescan

Our favourite so far is the McLaren 720S GT3 which we consider a must-buy with the upcoming DX12 update being the one we really want to happen sooner rather than later.

What car, track or feature are you looking forward to the most on iRacing?
