We wrote previously that Studio-397 announced an upcoming update for the GT3 series of cars on rFactor 2, including changes to the Balance of Performance (BOP). The update was released this week, but some things didn't make the trip.
Issues with the update
- The Radical is still being worked on and will be slower than the other cars due to outstanding work on the new tire model. This should be fixed in the next couple of weeks.
- The Mercedes isn't competitive at the moment due to it being reworked heavily, but it should improve over the next two weeks.
- There's an issue with certain GT3 cars vibrating while in the garage, but there's a fix that's being reviewed that should be out in the next two weeks.
Overview of the update
The biggest improvements and changes besides the Balance of Performance include changes to the Traction Control and ABS systems, an improved tire model, gear shift protection and a huge number of changes to the suspension and aerodynamics. This should change the handling characteristics of the cars quite significantly. Hopefully, the upcoming fixes to the Mercedes and Radical should more or less equalise the performance of all the cars to make the GT3 class competitive, regardless of which car you drive.
The Electric Docks track also had a minor update that included new advertising branding and some performance improvements.
Final thoughts
GT3 is always popular, with some people being brand loyal while others choosing the car that's the fastest at the time or best suited to a specific track. This update, once it's been fixed fully over the next few weeks, should ensure that every car is competitive with only minor differences in overall performance.
