Even though the Indy 500 is considered one of the most famous races in the world featuring super high speeds over a 500-mile race, the Indy Road course is also a really good race track for various forms of motorsport.
iRacing released Patch 3 of Season 3 today and the biggest update was the rescanned Indy Road course as seen during this year's IndyCar GMR Grand Prix.
The track features a long start/finish straight that runs the opposite direction of the Indy 500 with a slow Turn 1 that's ideal for overtaking. The inner section is relatively tight and twisty with a possible overtaking chance at the end of the back straight.
As per the usual iRacing standards, the track has been laser scanned in meticulous detail and looks and drives to perfection.
We did a couple of laps on the new track driving the Mercedes F1 W12 and enjoying the new layout. The only issue we had was the horrible high kerbs at a couple of corners but that's probably there to stop drivers from cutting e track too much.
The best part about this new track update is that it's free for all owners of the previous version of the Indianapolis track.
