iRacing.com released their Season 3 2022 update that includes a few new pieces of content. As usual, this update contains a massive list of bug fixes, physics updates and improvements to the damage model and additional cars and tracks that support AI racing. However, we're more concerned about the new tracks and cars that have been included in this release.
Cars
There are a few new cars in this update but the ones that stand out for us are the Mercedes AMG GT3 and GT4 cars. These cars are raced in multiple series around the world and are both gorgeous to look at and fun to drive. Both cars have AI racing support and the new damage model that looks so realistic that you almost feel bad when you crash the car!
Tracks
We're not huge fans of ovals but get very excited when a new road racing track gets released on iRacing. What's even better with this season's release is that the new track was the scene of that famous wet race held in Japan during the 2007 Formula 1 season and also the venue for some epic World Endurance Championship races. We're of course talking about Fuji International Speedway.
This track has what we consider the perfect blend of fast and slow corners, large elevation changes and more than one opportunity to overtake. This track should quickly become a favourite on the iRacing service.
What wasn't released...
We had high hopes for the long-awaited rain feature to be released but sadly, we'll have to wait for the next season. iRacing will of course implement rain at a very high level and will include the proper physics to make it better than just about any other racing sim out there. We're therefore assuming that this is the reason why it's taking so long.
This update wasn't as big as we'd hoped but the favourite item included was Fuji. It's an amazing track that we're really looking forward to driving many, many laps on. What's your favourite thing that was included in this release?
