The F1 22 game has seen a series of patches since its release in June this year. Patch 1.15 was released yesterday with a long list of updates and fixes. The feature that we consider the most important in this update is for Nvidia DLSS 3.
What is DLSS exactly?
DLSS stands for Deep Learning Super Sampling. It's a very powerful upscaling technology that leverages the power of an Nvidia GPU to upscale a lower resolution to a higher resolution with very little loss in quality. You then get the high frame rates associated with running at a lower resolution but experience the high quality you'd expect from a higher resolution.
DLSS 3 is the version available on the latest Nvidia 40-series cards that should make F1 2022 run like a dream, even at a 4K resolution. Unfortunately, the Nvidia 40-series cards are not cheap, and DLSS 3 doesn't work on older Nvidia cards. Despite this, the versions of DLSS that are supported on older Nvidia cards are still very effective in improving frame rates in F1 22 as the above graph reveals.
Final thoughts
As usual, we appreciate the fact that EA/Codemasters have continued updating and fixing F1 22 several months after its release. However, we still think that it shouldn't have had that many bugs to start off with especially considering their long history with the F1 series of games.
