The iRacing Companion App

We tend to race in various series on iRacing but don't always have the time to race as much as we would like. This means that when we find a gap, we must see what's coming up soon and jump in and race. Needless to say, this is for both practice and race sessions, where we only join races if we've done a decent amount of practice.

The iRacing Companion App

iRacing released an app quite a while back for both Android and iPhone that's free and provides a wealth of handy information that we use when we're not near our desktop. Here are some of its features:

  1. Schedules for all of the official series
  2. Upcoming races
  3. Reminders
  4. News
  5. Your profile info
  6. Your cars and tracks
  7. Your leagues

Favourites, schedules and reminders

We use these main features where we favourite the series we plan to compete in during the season and then see which races are coming up next. We also set reminders for certain races.

Favourite Series, Series Schedule and Reminders

The Favourites menu shows all your favourite series, including track name, race time, licence required and whether it's a single or multiclass series.

The Schedule menu shows the current and upcoming race weeks with the number of laps, type of race start and lots of other info.

The reminder menu lets you find a race that you want to compete in, and you can then choose a reminder time from 5 minutes before the start to increasingly larger increments. We normally choose 30 minutes before the time to allow for a quick few laps of practice and getting loosened up.

Final thoughts

We love using the iRacing Companion app not only for the three main features we use the most but for other small things like downtime reminders, where the app notifies you when iRacing is offline for maintenance and when it's ready to race.

There's also the iRacing Live section where race broadcasts are shown with a handy schedule as well as a list of hosted sessions that you can filter according to track, car/s, password protected etc.

The iRacing Companion app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. What do you use to keep track of your iRacing schedule?
